What They Should Have Told Me About Being an Entrepreneur: The Ups and Downs of Entrepreneurship

Here it is...if entrepreneurship were my opponent in a championship game, they won! Don’t laugh at me, but it is what it is. I’ve been in the entrepreneurship game for a while now, and I can truly say I’ve lost some games, but I’ve won in other ways. The lessons I’ve learned about being a business owner are abundant in this game of risks, trust, and progress.

I’ve learned:

  1. Your YES will propel you forward and your NO can too. It’s important to know when to say yes and when to say no. As you create goals for your business, accept opportunities that fit into your goals. This means you may have to say no to requests that sound good, but do not fit. You can do it.

  2. Start before you're ready. If you're waiting for the perfect time to focus on your passions and purpose, now is it. Starting now is the solution to perfecting first.

  3. Take a LOSS like a BOSS. You will make some mistakes during this journey. You will lose some money and some time. You will pay for some things and realize you don't need them, but all of the mistakes will make you a winner in the end.

On this journey, you will have ups and downs. You will win some and lose others. But, all of the valleys will make the mountaintops that much more breathtaking.
